Gender Identity and Gender Expression and Guide to Dressing Room Policy
The Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) has introduced training modules for all convenors, all coaches, Select trainers and Select managers to support trans-inclusive hockey in Ontario. Completion of the two modules, Understanding Discrimination based on Gender Identity and Gender Expression and a Guide to the Dressing Room Policy and Confidentiality Statement, is mandatory in order to be approved to a roster as an official for the 2019-20 and future hockey seasons.
There are two modules that will be used to educate convenors, coaches, Select trainers and managers on this important topic. For all convenors, coaches, Select trainers and managers, completion of these two modules is required in order to participate in an official capacity with the NYKHA during the current hockey season.
All convenors, coaches, Select trainers and managers will require an eHockey account in the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) in order to register for and complete the two modules. Once completed, notification will be posted to the convenor, coach, Select trainer or manager’s member profile on the HCR.
The first step in completing the training is to have an eHockey account in order to sign up for the required modules. Convenors, coaches, Select trainers and managers who do not already have an eHockey account can click the following link to sign up:
eHockey Account
Once your account has been established, or for those who already have an account, please click on the link below to be directed to the OHF landing page for more information on the training and to register for the course (no costs). Convenors, coaches and Select trainers and managers will access the course registration via the link and then be responsible for completing the Gender Identity and Expression course. Upon registering for the course, convenors, coaches and Select trainers and managers will receive an email with instructions for completing the modules.
Gender Identity Training
Please note that this training has been mandated by the OHF and must be completed if an individual wishes to volunteer in the North York Knights Hockey Association. Thank you for your co-operation on this important matter.
