  • 2025-2026 House League Registration

ONLINE REGISTRATION OPENS ON TUESDAY, APRIL 1st, 2025 AT 10:00AM.

Please review the following instructions in order to successfully complete your child’s online registration.

The North York Knights Hockey Association (“Knights”) uses the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) for enrolment. If your child is a new player, you will need to create a profile using your email address and a password.

When registering your child, please use an email address that you check regularly as this will be the club’s primary means of communication with you. DO NOT USE YOUR CHILD’S EMAIL ADDRESS FOR REGISTRATION!

Note that all communication from the Knights will be forwarded to the email address that you have provided during registration. If you provide an invalid or an incorrect email address you will not receive club communications.

All fields within the registration are self-explanatory and the system will prompt you if you forget to answer the mandatory questions. Once you complete the Member’s Information, you will need to choose the Division in which your child will play. The name of the division will appear (e.g. U9 2017 House League, U11 2015 House League) based on the player’s birth date that has been entered.

IF YOU REGISTER FOR A DIVISION FOR WHICH YOUR CHILD IS INELIGIBLE, YOUR PAYMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED BUT YOUR REGISTRATION MAY BE DENIED BY THE KNIGHTS.

    Registration and Fees for 2025-2026

Registration opens on Tuesday April 1st at 10:00am and will remain open until the LTP time slot or a House League division is deemed Full and Closed by the Knights (see Registration Status below). The Knights reserve the right to close registration early for any time slot or division deemed to be full. The following table outlines the registration fees for the NYKHA for the 2025-2026 hockey season. Note that the Early Bird fee ends on May 15th, 2025.

The paid invoice is also your tax receipt. Please print a copy for your records.

    Refund Policy

Notices of withdrawal and requests for refunds must be made in writing and sent by email to nykha.knights@gmail.com.

    LEARN TO PLAY

Refunds, less a $75 administrative fee, will be made for Learn to Play registrants only if requested on or before October 31, 2025. Refunds for Learn to Play registrants will not be issued in respect of any requests received on or after November 1, 2025.

    HOUSE LEAGUE

Refunds, less a $150 administrative fee, will be provided for House League registrants only if requested before August 31st, 2025.** Refunds for House League participants will not be issued in respect of any requests received on or after September 1st, 2025.

    CDS/SELECT TRYOUT POLICIES

Players who have tried out and accepted a spot on a CDS/Select team during tryouts in April/May and subsequently request a release from the House League and CDS/Select team will not receive a refund for their House League fees. This policy supersedes the House League refund policy. In addition, if a request of a release is made after a player has accepted a position on a CDS/Select team and has provided a CDS/Select team fee payment, said payment will be forfeited.

If the player is NOT offered a spot on their age division Select team and requests a refund, a $150 fee will apply (see House League refund policy above)

Consistent with the policy for all leagues governed by the GTHL (the NYKHA’s ruling body), players are only permitted to register with one club.

Refund cheques will only be processed after the deadline date for refunds for both House League and Learn to Play (i.e. August 31st and October 31st, 2025 respectively) regardless of when the request for the refund is made. If a player is released after the relevant deadline at the discretion of the Knights, no refund will be made.

For Learn to Play (LTP) Parents

    1. North York Knights Learn to Play Program

Please go to the LTP section of our website by clicking on the LTP sidebar of this page to obtain more information on the programs offered. All parents should read the FAQs (frequently asked questions) to obtain the information required to register your child in the appropriate session. The discussion on how the players are assigned to the various LTP sessions is particularly helpful.

Learn To Play will be using the Knights website and TeamSnap for general communications this season. You will NOT receive emails or phone calls – so please check the website and TeamSnap regularly for updates. Please bookmark that site and check back in September 2024 for up-to-date information on getting started in the programs, assigned coaches and detailed schedules. The North York Knights will be offering LTP programs at three arenas. However, this may be subject to change depending on the allocation of arenas by the City of Toronto.

For House League Players and Parents

House League games are held on Sunday evenings. Practices are held throughout the day on Saturdays with the exception of the U16 (2010), U17 (2009) and U18 (2008). Approximately two weeks prior to the start of the season, parents will receive an email from the player’s House League coach to communicate information on practice times, arena location and the regular season schedule. The Knights cannot provide information on practice times and game schedules for any team in any of the divisions before the team draft.

House League practices and games have historically been scheduled in several locations in North York, including the York Mills, Bayview, Mitchell Field and Pleasantview arenas. Arenas and playing times will be assigned to teams/divisions once the teams are drafted in September. Parents/players cannot choose in which arenas they will be practicing or playing. Parents/Players will receive notice of their team assignment from their coach two weeks prior to the start of the season.

    U7, U8 and U9 Division

The U7 and U8 age group will follow the Hockey Canada mandated Initiation Program (IP) moving forward which recommends training and playing in a cross-ice or half-ice format. This Canada-wide initiative applies to all hockey associations and is intended to improve the development and progression of basic hockey skills and concepts.

It is the intention of the North York Knights to have practices for this age group on Saturday mornings and to schedule games on Sunday in the late-afternoon/early evening for the entire season. Games will have players as fully equipped goaltenders with a weekly rotation expected amongst the players; and there will be bumpers to divide the ice according to the modified ice guidelines.

U9 aged players will play using the modified ice for the Fall portion of the season and play on full ice surface starting in mid-January 2026. These dates may be modified should the start of the season be delayed.

A more detailed explanation of what is recommended in the Initiation Program for the various ages can be found at the following Ontario Hockey Federation address: OHF Player Development Model .
