HOCKEY PROGRAMS RESUME JANUARY 31ST
Good afternoon, Knights families and players:
We are pleased to announce that our governing body, the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) has given the green light to return to play as of January 31. The GTHL has been advised that facilities will be permitted to reopen with 50 per cent capacity in both the building and spectator areas. There will be limits in dressing rooms that do not allow for social distancing. On-ice programming, however, will be able to resume under normal conditions. Please see attached GTHL notice.
We are looking forward to practices and games starting for Learn to Play and House League on the weekend of February 5 & 6. Prior to our return date, we will be reaching out to facilities to determine any new or modified requirements and we will report on this and/or changes in the GTHL’s Game Plan 2.0 that may affect our programs. We are certainly expecting the need to follow the protocols that we have had in place since the beginning of the season including masking, social distancing and completing health screenings. This season has had its challenges but let’s have a great finish!
As we look towards the end of season, the Knights recognize that players have missed out on ice time. The Executive team is determined to have all players maximize their ice time during the end of season and playoff time and will therefore structure the remaining schedule to have all players play as long as possible without early eliminations.
Finally, reimbursements for missed programming will be provided at the end of the hockey season after determining the full financial impact of the recent stoppage in play, in particular ice time refunds from the City of Toronto, and hopefully the refunds will not have to account for any other programming pauses (fingers crossed it doesn’t happen).
Looking forward to everyone being back in the rinks!
Go Knights Go!
